"Life Is What Happens When You Are Busy Making Other Plans"

Updated: Aug 25, 2023

The 2023 PMC Opening Ceremonies in Sturbridge, MA were incredible. As a first time rider, representing The Daughters of Anarchy, I felt the love and support of all our donors. Yes, they rang the bells for me as I collected my "welcome" packet!! Please know that the stories you shared about your experiences with cancer, when you visited the GOT CORN Vegetable Stand or at different fundraising locations, provided me the strength to face the 111 mile bike ride. Watching the televised "Heroes Among Us" PMC Special, surrounded by PMC riders in the Sturbridge Host Hotel, brought me to tears. One father, who sat directly in front of me, saw his family's interview on the large screen. While watching his wife discuss their child's cancer diagnosis, he yelled out, "That's my son!" No other moment impacted me more that night! His gratitude for his son's health exemplified the magic of the PMC. Never have I been prouder to have The Daughters of Anarchy part of the "Heroes Among Us" special and never has it been clearer that the courageous families who fight cancer each day are the true heroes.

After raising over $7,000 (surpassing our original goal of $4,000) and partaking in the PMC Opening Ceremonies, I came home for an early night's rest. Unfortunately, I awaked at 3:30 AM with a sudden illness. I could NOT ride in the PMC. A trip to Urgent Care later that morning confirmed that I needed anti-biotics and rest. It was a disappointing moment; however, the PMC's cause is bigger than any one person's ride. Legions of riders represent THE MAIN GOAL - THE ERADICATION OF CANCER. So, these riders carried on, and The Daughters of Anarchy resolved to ride again next year with even more members participating.
